Our Story
Prime Smile started with one simple but clear observation.
Our founder, Dr Thilliamapalm Sivakanesan, grew up in Jaffna and later moved to Norway. After working in Europe as a dentist for many years, he decided to return to Jaffna in his later years. Back home, what he found was hard to ignore. Dental care in Sri Lanka had not moved on much in all the time he had been away.
People were paying large sums and still not getting what they needed. Implants were a particular problem. Too many patients got substandard ones that broke down or made things worse over time. Going abroad was expensive. Staying local meant taking a risk. Most patients were stuck choosing between the two.
Dr Sivakanesan wanted to fix that. He had an ambitious vision to provide European-quality dental services in Sri Lanka. To realise this vision, he brought together well-experienced and well-trained dentists and dental specialists who were the best in their respective fields and founded Prime Smile.
Dr Masilamany Thavarajah, a specialist orthodontist, became one of the clinic’s co-founders. Together, they built Prime Smile into the best dental clinic in Sri Lanka, providing the standard of care people need and deserve.
Prime Smile is also about more than just the clinic. The aim is to raise the bar for dental care across Sri Lanka. Jaffna can lead the way on that. When patients see what proper care looks like, they stop settling for less.

Dental anxiety is more common than people admit, and it does not get nearly enough attention in Sri Lanka. That is something we wanted to address from day one.
How you feel during your visit matters here. We built the clinic around that. Things move at your pace. The environment is calm, and the team is straightforward to talk to. Nobody will rush you.
Younger patients are well looked after here, and our team is used to putting children at ease. Older patients and those who need a bit of extra support will find the clinic is set up with them in mind too.
We have the facilities and the staff to accommodate a range of needs. Solo visits, family appointments, patients with additional requirements, everyone gets the same standard of care.
Before Your First Appointment
You come in, meet whoever is seeing you that day, and go from there. Your dentist will have a proper look, ask a few questions, and tell you straight what they find. There is no rush to make any decisions during that first visit.
Most people leave that first appointment with a much better picture of what is going on with their teeth than when they walked in. That alone is worth the visit.
