What Were the “Crystals”?
Tartar. Or calculus, if you want the clinical term.
Calculus builds up when plaque is not properly brushed off. It hardens over time. Once it sets, no amount of brushing lifts it. Most people have no idea what it is. They just notice something feels or looks off.
You cannot brush away tartar. Only professional cleaning, called scaling, removes it properly.
During Maithili’s check-up, Dr Jeeva also found a cavity. So she left having had both a full scaling and a tooth filling sorted in a single visit.
